The most famous tufa mound is formed around Lubjakünka or Healing Spring. The meadow around it is very species rich and covered also with layer of tufa sediments. It is interesting to see here how the older spring mound occasionally dries during the less water periods, and groundwater has found a easier way to the ground somewhere else. Groundwater pressure exceeds the resistance of the sedimentary lime layer and the process continues in different places. The springs in the area are well seen from the air. |
