Latest survey indicates the positive effect of the re-opening work for the habitat quality and the fish population

The monitoring of the water quality and fish abundance (spring 2014) is showing big positive difference in  favour of the re-opened oxbow lakes comparing to these with non-sufficient connection. The oxygen content is significantly better and the multitude of fish many times higher.

Alam-Pedja 2013

Happyfish is well-known and the work done at the oxbow lakes of Emajõgi River at Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve is introduced as a good sample of actions, improving the conservation status of valuable habitat and species. Area is one of the most popular places visited by the decision makers, experts and nature friends.

The commission of the environment of the Parliament of Estonia had a work session at the nature conservation centers of the Emajõgi River area, also in Alam-Pedja. Our experts presented the Happyfish project and the principles and values of the Natura 2000 during the presentations and field trips. Also, very interesting were several days spent together with the representatives of the LIFE Nature project WALPHY (LIFE07 ENV/B/000038) from Walloonia. The discussions and planning of the future cooperation was very fruitful.
