In addition to evaluating the ecological results of this project, we also used contingent valuation method to obtain the monetary equivalence for the studied ecosystem service for evaluating its socio-economical impact. The results show that Estonian citizens know about this project and they care about good health of River Emajõgi and its oxbow lakes. It appears that people are willing to pay 7. 8 million euros for restoring the health of the oxbow lakes, which is several times the real costs of the project. Thus, the activities carried out within the framework of the project Happyfish are really useful for the society and improve the well-being of the citizens, who value this project. Opening the mouths of oxbow lakes is therefore highly profitable from the social-economical viewpoint. This project has significantly improved the ability of Alam-Pedja protected area to supply us with services from its ecosystems. docx 1,6Mb) The socio-economic impact of the project
